Welcome Spring! :)

SONY DSCDepending on where you live, it may or may not feel like Spring, however the Vernal Equinox happened this past week!  Temperature-wise you may not feel it, but internally you are probably feeling a “shift” taking place.  This shift is essential for growth and change…and change is constant.

Springs brings about growth and new beginnings.  What are you able to shed from your past to create space for future opportunities?  Let go of anything that’s holding you back from achieving your potential.  We get clouded, distracted and held back – many times from obstacles that we put in front of ourselves.  Letting go can create anxiety, because many times we’ve become accustomed to holding onto negative feelings, thoughts or situations in our life.  Change, even if it is positive can create anxiety – because you are changing your universe.

Simple meditation – following your breath can create anxiety – partly because we usually aren’t connected to our breath.  We also have the habit of multi-tasking and distracting ourselves all the time.  When we stop and breathe, we are forced to be in the moment without distractions.  Over time, this will feel calm and comforting, but will take practice.

A simple meditation and breathing exercise is to close your eyes, place one hand on your chest and one hand on your stomach and count your inhale and your exhale.  Your inhale and exhale should be equal.  As you start to feel comfortable, slow the breath down and try to sustain the breath.  When you exhale, you are releasing and letting go of unwanted energies that have been stuck in your body and mind, creating space for new opportunities and experiences.  When you inhale, you bring in fresh life and positive energy. Continue to follow your breath….keep it steady and maintain this connection throughout your day and in decision-making.  You will feel more grounded and in control of the changes in your life.
